LG Gram Ultra Slim and Gram Style are now available, and the lineup has been updated with new models

LG Gram Ultra Slim and LG Gram Style laptops were unveiled at CES 2023 on Tuesday. The company has also expanded its lineup with the introduction of the new LG Gram 2-in-1, as well as the LG Gram 14, 15, 16, and 17 models. The LG Gram Ultra Slim is claimed to be the thinnest Gram series laptop, with a folded thickness of 10.99mm. It does not, however, lack in terms of performance, as it includes the latest 13th Gen Intel Core processors, as well as integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

All of the new LG Gram series laptops feature 13th generation Intel Core processors, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. However, the company has not yet determined the price of these laptops. LG will launch these laptops globally, beginning in February in South Korea.

LG Gram 16 2-in-1, LG Gram 14 2-in-1 specifications

In addition, the company unveiled two new convertible Gram 2-in-1 models. The new LG Gram 16 2-in-1 features a 16-inch touch IPS display with WQXGA (2,560×1,600 pixels). The LG Gram 14 2-in-1, on the other hand, has a 14-inch WUXGA (1,920×1,200 pixel) touch IPS display. Both of these laptops have a refresh rate of 60Hz and a brightness of 350 nits. Furthermore, their displays are shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus. The LG Stylus Pen as well as a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter are also included with these convertible laptops. The LG Gram 14 comes with a 14-inch WUXGA (1,920×1,200 pixel) IPS display.

LG Gram Style vs LG Gram Ultra Slim

The LG Gram Ultra Slim is extremely thin

The LG Gram Ultra Slim’s main selling point is its thin design, which measures just 12.55mm thick – thinner than your finger. The LG Gram Style isn’t particularly bulky, but it is thicker than the Ultraslim – LG claims the 14-inch as well as 16-inch Style models are 15.9mm thick. The LG Gram Ultraslim’s smaller size also makes it a more portable laptop. It weighs 998 grams, while the 14-inch LG Gram Style weighs 999 grams. Even though the difference is only one gramme, LG’s 15-inch Ultraslim laptop is lighter than the 14-inch Style laptop. However, there is a disadvantage to having such a slim design, with the Ultraslim packing a 60Wh cell as opposed to the 72Wh battery inside the 14-inch Style.

The screen resolution on the LG Gram Style is higher

Both LG laptops have an OLED screen, which means they have deep blacks and high contrast, but there is a significant difference in pixel count. The LG Gram Ultraslim’s screen resolution is Full HD (1920×1080), which is standard for a laptop at this price. The 14-inch Gram Style has a Quad HD (2880 x 1800) resolution, while the 16-inch Gram Style has a Quad HD (3200 x 2000) resolution.

This means that the Style range should have a sharper image while presenting supported images and videos, making it the better choice if you want to watch Netflix or Disney Plus on your laptop. The LG Gram Style also has higher refresh rates, with a maximum of 120Hz, whereas the Ultraslim only has a maximum of 60Hz.

LG Gram Style has a glass design and a touchpad that disappears

The LG Gram Style is not as slim as its sibling, but it has a stylish design. It has a more elegant glass casing than the metal-clad Ultraslim. LG was able to create an LED backlight with vivid customisable colours illuminating the surface by using a glass deck. The LG Gram Style also has a haptic trackpad that is only visible when the laptop’s surface is touched. Since there isn’t a physical trackpad like on traditional laptops, you can customise the settings, such as the sensitivity and intensity of the vibrations.

Exact same performance specifications

Now that we’ve covered the major differences, let’s look at the similarities between the two laptops. The Style and Ultraslim are both powered by 13th Generation Intel Core Raptor Lake processors. Memory options are also identical, with 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB available. The same is true for storage configurations, which include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. Of course, shared specifications do not guarantee identical performance. When the cooling system on thin laptops is insufficient, performance throttling can occur.
