Specifications for Phone 1 Surface Online is expected to include a Snapdragon 778G processor and a 90Hz AMOLED display

Nothing, the enigmatic start-up founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has kept a low profile since its introduction in late 2020. Although, its second product, the Nothing Phone 1, is now known to be due this summer. It’s unclear how the Phone 1 will act as the core of Nothing’s promised ecosystem, especially in terms of software. But there is already information about the phone’s software, feature set, and possible hardware when it arrives later this year. The smartphone’s specifications have leaked online before its release. Giving fans an indication of what to anticipate from the impending device. The Snapdragon 778G SoC is expected to be used in the Nothing Phone 1, along with 8GB of RAM and a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Twitter user @rsjadon01 disclosed specifications about the impending Nothing Phone 1, citing an Amazon user handbook. It’s worth mentioning, though, that the alleged handbook does not appear to be an official one. The firm has yet to make any public announcements about the smartphone’s specs.

Specifications

The Nothing Phone 1 is supposed to operate on Android 12 with the company’s proprietary Nothing OS on top. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor is expected to power the phone, along with 8GB of RAM.

A 6.43-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate is expected for the Nothing Phone 1. The smartphone may have a triple rear camera with a 50MP primary camera. Also, an 8MP secondary camera, and a 2MP tertiary camera, according to the leaked user manual.

A 32MP selfie camera is said to be included in the gadget.

The Nothing Phone 1 is rumoured to include a 4500mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities and 128GB of internal storage.

The fact that the business explicitly announced a cooperation with Qualcomm in late 2021. It doesn’t rule out the possibility that the Nothing Phone 1 would operate on a Snapdragon 778G 1. Of fact, Qualcomm produces a multitude of processors, so the Phone 1 might employ less expensive silicon instead of the premium Snapdragon.

For the time being, the business has kept the details of its Snapdragon-powered Nothing smartphone under wraps. Starting with a stylized teaser graphic that refers to the possible location of components on the Phone 1.

Camera Module

A pill-shaped camera module (similar to the iPhone X’s or, more recently. The Honor 50’s multi-sensor setup) appears to be in the top left, a big component in the centre resembles a wireless charging coil (but could also actually represent the battery’s placement). Also, the bottom vertical lines are assumed to be in reference to power input. A diagonal line represents an unknown element in the upper right corner.

If you’re looking for something more solid, in the run-up to the phone’s official tease, @evleaks provided the photograph below. Which shows Nothing CEO Carl Pei showing off an unknown gadget to Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon in the latter’s private area.

However, even after cropping and improving the photograph, it’s difficult to tell what the item in Pei’s hands looks like.

The event on March 23 also neatly laid out some of Nothing’s other important hardware and production partners, with Samsung, Sony, and Visionox all making appearances (see image below), indicating to who may be in charge of delivering the Nothing Phone 1’s display, camera sensors, and beyond.

To the right of the frame, there’s what looks like a wireless charging coil, and something that looks like flex cable in the top left, while the head of a Torx screw is visible in the bottom left. Since the company’s founding, numerous idea designers have shared their thoughts of what Nothing’s first smartphone may look like.

When will the Nothing Phone 1 be released?

At its 23 March presentation, the business stated that it was working on a smartphone, but didn’t go into much detail beyond guaranteeing a summer release.

Nothing OS, the Android-based user experience that the Nothing Phone 1 will have, was also unveiled at the event. While the OS won’t officially debut until the phone does, a beta version of the Nothing Launcher, which itself is free to install and check out on certain devices, is available to try now.

What is the expected price of Nothing Phone 1?

The company’s first product, the Nothing Ear 1 genuine wireless headphones, was priced competitively at $99/£99 while keeping premium features such as ANC (active noise cancelling), putting them at the top end of what would be termed ‘affordable’ within their own product category. We’d anticipate something in the range of $500/£500 if the same methodology was taken to the Phone 1. But rumours and leaks point to Nothing developing something a bit more high-end.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s updated Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. For example, competitive pricing would put it in the $800/£700 range. Putting it in direct competition with the Realme GT 2 Pro and Google Pixel 6, as well as more established players like the Oppo Find X5 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22, as well as iPhone 13.
